Our Story
Being a medical doctor by profession, a mother of two beautiful daughters and a wife to a specialist doctor in training, is challenging at the best of times! Yet very few things have given me as much joy through the years, as the smell of something delicious baking away in the oven. It has become a hobby of sorts - and a very enjoyable one at that!
Time and again friends and family will compliment my cakes, for not only looking beautiful, but also tasting every calorie's worth.
After much deliberation and a few nudges from friends and family, I decided - with my husband by my side - to start my very own business! And thus, Tillie's Cakes was born!
What do we do?
We bake premium custom cakes for any occasion! By using the best available ingredients, we aim to provide you with a decadent treat for your birthday, work function, celebration or whatever excuse you can invent to justify having cake. We pride ourselves in making cakes that are exceptional, not only by looking immaculate, but also by being incredibly tasty. You can either choose one from our selection of customer favourites, featured on the gallery page, or you can completely customize your order to whatever your imagination can come up with! Even only a photo or idea is often more than enough to get the creative juices flowing. We believe every cake should be a unique creation and not just a mass produced stock-standard item.
The flavours of "base cake" currently offered include Chocolate, Vanilla, Carrot (with nuts) or Red Velvet. The decoration options are, however, endless! It ranges from a basic buttercream or ganache drip, to a fondant or cream cheese icing. Decorations range from piped buttercream, gum-paste decorative figurines, chocolates or even fresh flowers. Various other options are also possible. All our cakes are made specifically to order, to ensure it will be at the freshest possible when you collect. No two cakes will ever be exactly the same, and therefore the pricing will also depend on what you would like to order.
We also make cupcakes to order, priced per dozen. This is an excellent option for class parties, baby showers, celebration events or even just for the love of having a sweet treat every now and again. It can be standard buttercream piped, to a colour of your choosing, or customized with a variety of fondant or printed toppers.
